Google’s I/O 2025 keynote on Tuesday was packed with major AI-focused announcements. CEO Sundar Pichai and other top executives announced a variety of upgrades to Google’s ecosystem, with an upgrade to the Gemini 2.5 AI series, updates to AI in Search, and the reveal of a new 3D communication system called Google Beam.

Google I/O 2025: Gemini 2.5, Google Beam, Android XR, AI in Search, and New ₹1,950/₹21,000 Plans Unveiled
Google Beam, evolved from Project Starline, is a 3D video calling platform using six cameras and AI to convert 2D video into 3D visuals. The system also has head-tracking sensors, offering realistic capture at 60fps. Google expects to bring the first Beam devices to market with HP later in 2025, with wider OEM availability at InfoComm 2025 in June. New features were added to the Gemini 2.5 series, including Deep Think mode in Gemini 2.5 Pro for better reasoning, native output audio via the Live API.
The Gemini 2.5 Flash model also gets upgrades for reasoning, code generation, and multimodal processing, while being more cost-efficient. Developers will benefit from new tools like thought summaries and budget management. AI Mode in Search is now entirely supported by Gemini 2.5, and encompasses Deep Search, Live Search (a camera input-based search), and agent-style capabilities for tasks such as booking event tickets and scheduling appointments.
Now, shopping tools are being layered on, so users can try clothes virtually, watch product prices, and make purchases automatically. AI Overviews, Google’s AI-powered search snapshot, launches in 200+ countries in 40+ languages, adds Arabic, Malay, Urdu, Chinese, and more. Google also teased Android XR — a new Gemini-based OS for Samsung’s Project Moohan smart glasses with camera, audio, and hands-free AI interaction. Additionally, Imagen 4 and Veo 3 were introduced for image and video generation.
A new app called Flow can create short videos using Gemini and other AI models. Other updates include Gemini integration in Chrome, a Stitch tool for UI design, real-time speech translation in Google Meet, and new Gemini plans: Google AI at ₹1,950/month and Google AI Ultra at around ₹21,000/month.
