Disney+Hotstar will telecast the much-awaited India vs England which is scheduled in February.

The Star India network is already a holder for television and streaming both rights for Indian viewers for all international and domestic cricketing events by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They stream all international matches for India within the country and domestic tournaments including the much-demanded Indian Premier League (IPL) competition.

According to a report by Telegraph, Star India will also be licensing the upcoming home series against England to any third party in the United Kingdom. While English platforms like BT and Sky Sports are usually involved in broadcasting series for English audiences, Star India’s licensing rights means the India vs England 2021 series will be televised and streamed in the UK on Disney+ as well as on Disney+ Hotstar apps.

It is also heard that the e-commerce giant Amazon after buying New Zealand cricket rights in India is now also planning to buy Ashes rights for the territory of the UK. Telegraph has reported that Amazon is also one of the contenders to show the next Ashes.

The proposed moves are likely that cricket fans in the UK will be paying up to three separate subscriptions to watch mainstream international cricket, as Sky continues to hold the rights for England home series and remains perplexed to telecast next winter’s Ashes series, while BT Sport is currently showing host Australia’s series against India and New Zealand’s two-match Test contest against Pakistan.
