Vaibhav Suryavanshi : In a heartwarming moment for Indian cricket, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name into IPL history by becoming the youngest player ever to score a century in the league. The teenage sensation from Bihar lit up the stadium in Jaipur with a 35-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans — the fastest IPL century by an Indian and the second-fastest overall in the tournament’s history.

‘Son of Bihar’ Vaibhav Suryavanshi Bags ₹10 Lakh from CM Nitish Kumar After Maiden IPL Century

This historic feat didn’t just grab headlines across the cricketing world but also brought pride and honor to his home state. Recognizing his achievement, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a ₹10 lakh reward for the “Son of Bihar,” praising his dedication, talent, and the hope he represents for the future of Indian cricket.

“Congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar, who became the youngest player (14 years) to score a century in the history of the IPL. He has become a new hope for Indian cricket through his hard work and talent. Everyone is proud of him,” CM Nitish Kumar posted on social media.

A Star is Born in Jaipur

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 38-ball 101* wasn’t just a statistical record — it was a masterclass in fearless batting. His innings, laced with 11 sixes and stunning strokeplay, helped Rajasthan Royals chase down a challenging 210-run target in just 15.5 overs. The cricket fraternity, from Sachin Tendulkar to Ian Bishop, showered praise on the prodigy.

Even RR head coach Rahul Dravid, despite nursing a leg fracture, rose from his seat to applaud the knock — a moment that symbolized the magnitude of Vaibhav’s performance.

From Samastipur to Stardom

Hailing from Samastipur, Bihar, Vaibhav was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He made his first-class debut for Bihar at just 12 years and 284 days — a sign of things to come. His IPL debut came earlier this season on April 19 against Lucknow Super Giants, where he showed sparks of brilliance with a quickfire 34.

But it was the April 28 clash against Gujarat Titans that marked his true arrival on the big stage.

CM Nitish Kumar’s Support: A Boost for Bihar’s Sporting Dreams

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s ₹10 lakh honorarium is more than just a cash reward — it’s a symbol of recognition and encouragement for aspiring athletes across the state. The Chief Minister recalled meeting Vaibhav and his father in 2024, wishing him a bright future and reaffirming the state’s support for nurturing sporting talent.

“I hope Vaibhav sets new records for the Indian team in the future and brings glory to the country,” said Nitish Kumar.

Cricket World Celebrates a New Era

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now become the youngest centurion in T20 and IPL history — a title once thought unimaginable for someone so young. As India looks ahead to its cricketing future, Vaibhav stands out as a symbol of raw talent, fearless ambition, and the dreams of millions.

With this blistering knock, he hasn’t just made history — he’s rewritten the possibilities of what youth can achieve in cricket.
