AMD Threadripper PRO: AMD’s next-gen Threadripper PRO 9000 series is gearing up for its debut, and recent leaks from NBD shipping logs have revealed two powerful contenders in the lineup: the Threadripper PRO 9975WX and 9965WX. Featuring 32 cores and 24 cores respectively, both chips will maintain the 350W TDP of their predecessors while delivering superior performance thanks to the shift to the Zen 5 architecture.

AMD Threadripper PRO 9975WX and 9965WX Leaked in Shipping Logs — Packing Zen 5 Power with 32 and 24 Cores

Threadripper PRO 9975WX and 9965WX Leak Confirms Core Counts and Specs

The leaked shipping manifest, originally shared by @Olrak29_ (before the post was deleted), gives us a closer look at these high-performance workstation processors.

✅ Key Specifications of the Leaked SKUs:

Threadripper PRO 9975WX: 32 Cores / 64 Threads
Threadripper PRO 9965WX: 24 Cores / 48 Threads
TDP: 350W for both chips
Architecture: Zen 5
Socket: SP6 (same as Threadripper 7000 series)

These new processors stick to familiar core/thread configurations seen in the Threadripper 7000WX series but benefit from architectural improvements that promise increased performance and efficiency.

Zen 5 Architecture Brings Power and Efficiency

While the core and thread counts remain the same as their predecessors — the Threadripper PRO 7975WX (32 cores) and 7965WX (24 cores) — the biggest upgrade is under the hood.

What’s New with Zen 5?

Improved IPC (Instructions Per Clock): Zen 5 promises better single-threaded and multi-threaded performance, making these CPUs ideal for heavy-duty workloads.
4nm Process Node: Manufactured on a smaller and more power-efficient 4nm process compared to the 5nm used in the Threadripper 7000 series, leading to better thermal management and energy efficiency.
Enhanced AI and Workload Optimization: Zen 5 comes with improved AI and machine learning accelerators, making it a solid choice for AI-driven applications and rendering tasks.

Hyperthreading and Thread Efficiency Remain Intact

Just like their predecessors, both the 9975WX and 9965WX will support hyperthreading, delivering:

9975WX: 32 cores and 64 threads
9965WX: 24 cores and 48 threads

This ensures that these CPUs remain multitasking powerhouses, capable of handling demanding workstation loads, including 3D rendering, video editing, AI training, and other professional tasks.

9975WX and 9965WX Are Not the Flagship Models — The 96-Core Beast Still Awaits

Although the Threadripper PRO 9975WX and 9965WX offer impressive specs, they won’t be the ultimate powerhouses in the Threadripper 9000 series. The true flagship will be the Threadripper PRO 9995WX, which is expected to feature:

✅ Flagship Specs (Expected):

96 Cores / 192 Threads
Same 350W TDP
Designed for Extreme Workstation Loads

In addition, AMD is likely to introduce the Threadripper PRO 9985WX with 64 cores and 128 threads, filling out the high-end lineup.

350W TDP — Consistency Across the Lineup

Both the 9975WX and 9965WX will maintain a 350W TDP, which has been a constant across all Threadripper PRO 7000WX and 9000WX models. This ensures:

Thermal Consistency: No major changes in cooling requirements.
Compatibility with Existing Cooling Solutions: Users upgrading from previous generations can reuse their cooling setups.

SP6 Socket and Platform Continuity

AMD is maintaining platform consistency by using the SP6 socket for the Threadripper PRO 9000 series, the same socket found in the previous generation. This approach simplifies the upgrade path for existing workstation users, allowing them to swap out their older chips for newer, faster models without needing a complete system overhaul.

How Do 9975WX and 9965WX Compare to the Previous Generation?

Feature	9975WX (New)	9965WX (New)	7975WX (Old)	7965WX (Old)
Architecture	Zen 5	Zen 5	Zen 4	Zen 4
Core/Thread Count	32C/64T	24C/48T	32C/64T	24C/48T

Release Year	2024 (expected)	2024 (expected)	2023	2023

When Will the Threadripper 9000 Series Launch?

Although AMD has not officially announced the Threadripper PRO 9000 series, leaks and shipping manifests suggest that an official reveal is imminent. The launch is expected to take place sometime in late 2024, aligning with AMD’s strategy to introduce Zen 5 architecture across all its platforms.
