It has been over a year since Rockstar unveiled the first GTA 6 trailer, confirming the long-awaited return to Vice City as part of the expanded state of Leonida. Rockstar has remained silent since then, with a second trailer nowhere to be found. Due to these updates, fans have taken it into their own hands to speculate what Leonida may really look like. Players can experience a rough version of this from the upcoming GTA 6 thanks to some dedicated mods in GTA 5.

Modders Bring GTA 6’s Vice City & Leonida to GTA 5 with New FiveM Map Based on Trailer Footage and Fan Theories

A modder known as Dark Space, with assistance from others, has recreated GTA 6’s rumored map using FiveM. This fan-made project is constructed of a cocktail of speculation, the original Vice City map, and information nabbed directly from the GTA 6 trailer. Players are able to cruise through areas such as Vice Beach, the Venetian Islands, and Vice City itself, providing an early look at the size of the new world. The map is found on Dark Space’s Discord server.

As one might expect, the mod has some constraints. The “northern” sections are heavily speculative, a lot of buildings are reused assets from the GTA 5 game world, and some textures don’t have collision effects set up, so players can drive through them. Also, proper night lighting isn’t yet in place, and Vice Beach looks way too developed compared to how it probably will in GTA 6. The only real question is if Rockstar will let the project continue through its development.

This is far from the first time the company and Take-Two have shut down fan mods that port maps from older games, including a Liberty City in GTA 5 mod. Dark Space has resolved to keep updating and polishing the map until Rockstar tells them to stop.
