The Taiwanese silicon giant is on a spree to make some money with its budget to mid-range chips found on most phones these days. Gone are the days of Qualcomm’s dominance as MediaTek’s Dimensity chips are very impressive and are being used by almost all major smartphone manufacturers like Oppo, Xiaomi, LG, Realme and others.
The company has reported consolidated revenue of NT$33.54 billion (or US$1.19 billion) for November 2020. This is a 10.2% sequential spike in revenue along with a 62.7% increase year over year, as reported by Digitimes. Its cumulative 2020 revenue throughout November rose 29.3% from a year earlier to NT$289.72 billion.
Although it couldn’t touch the record $1.32 billion revenue figure in September, still very impressive. Its Q4 2020 revenue also seems to match the market predictions and this momentum should be kept ongoing with strong demand for 5G chips even on budget devices these days.
MediaTek even expects almost US$10 billion revenue figure in 2020 despite the pandemic and all the miseries we faced this year, thanks to its chips for various use cases like IoT, smartphones, communications, modems and even smart home applications. Â
