More Languages, More Viewers

TVF has already started testing the waters with regional content. Shows like Sivarapalli (Telugu) and Shanti Kranti (Marathi) have set the foundation for a broader expansion. According to TVF’s President Vijay Koshy, regional languages hold huge potential due to their large television audience and advertising revenue.

“Regional content is a big focus for us. Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Bengali are the four languages we have seen command a substantial chunk of the viewership and advertising pie in broadcast television,” said Koshy.

With regional OTT consumption on the rise, this expansion could help TVF reach millions of new viewers.

TVF’s Long-Term Vision

Upcoming Shows of TVF for 2025: Regional Shows, Movies, and an Interconnected Universe

TVF isn’t just stopping at new shows; it’s planning to create a shared universe of stories. The upcoming movie Vvan—starring Sidharth Malhotra and co-produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures—is a step in this direction. With a budget of ₹40-50 crore, it marks TVF’s bold entry into theatrical releases.

The studio aims to connect its films and web series through crossovers and spin-offs, similar to Hollywood’s Marvel or DC Universes. This approach could build a loyal audience that follows multiple TVF projects across different platforms.

TVF’s Biggest Hits

TVF has built a strong reputation for highly engaging content, and the numbers prove it. According to media consulting firm Ormax, Panchayat (Season 3) was the second most-watched Hindi web series in 2024, with 28.2 million viewers—only behind Mirzapur (Season 3).

Other TVF hits also ranked in the top 15 Hindi web series of 2024:

  • Kota Factory (Season 3) – 15.8 million viewers
  • Gullak (Season 4) – 12.1 million viewers

Despite a challenging OTT landscape, TVF has managed to keep audiences engaged while streaming platforms are cutting budgets and reducing new content investments.

“There is a slowdown. The number of platforms has come down. There has been a lull for 12 months in terms of acquisitions,” Koshy admitted. “But our calendar is largely covered for the next 18 months. We have enough shows going into multiple seasons.”

Upcoming Shows of TVF for 2025

After releasing 14 shows in 2024, TVF is stepping up its game by planning 20 web series this year. Some of the most anticipated ones include:

  • Panchayat (Season 4)
  • Gullak (Season 5)
  • Aspirants (Season 3)
  • Half CA (Season 2)
  • Gram Chikitsalaya (New show)

Most Indian web series don’t go beyond two or three seasons, but TVF has managed to keep its shows running long-term, proving that audiences love their storytelling style.

TVF’s Focus on Intellectual Property (IP)

One major factor behind TVF’s success is its business model. While other studios often sell content rights to streaming platforms, TVF follows a licensing approach. This allows TVF to retain ownership of its shows and negotiate better deals.

“We are very clear the IP is ours,” Koshy emphasized.

This model also gives TVF the flexibility to move shows between platforms. For example, Tripling started on SonyLIV but later moved to ZEE5. By keeping IP rights, TVF ensures long-term control over its content.

YouTube Factor

Unlike most production houses, TVF still invests heavily in YouTube content. This strategy has paid off, with 17 out of its 25 major shows debuting on YouTube before moving to OTT platforms.

Some of TVF’s biggest hits that started on YouTube include:

  • Pitchers
  • Permanent Roommates
  • Aspirants
  • Kota Factory (later picked up by Netflix)

With over 50 million subscribers across YouTube and social media, TVF has built a loyal fanbase. This gives them a huge advantage in marketing, as they don’t have to rely solely on OTT platforms for promotions.

“The other thing we bring to the table is our marketing ability. We have a community of our own, and platforms have adjusted their standard operating procedure to accommodate TVF,” Koshy explained.
