Udit Narayan Breaks Silence on the Controversy
Responding to the backlash, Udit Narayan addressed the issue in an interview with Hindustan Times. Defending himself, he stated, “Fans can be extremely passionate. I am not that kind of person; I am a decent man. Some fans express their love in different ways. Why blow this out of proportion? There were so many people in the crowd, and security was present. But fans get excited when they get a chance to meet their favorite artists—some reach out for a handshake, some kiss hands. It’s all part of their admiration, and it shouldn’t be given undue attention.”
He also hinted at the possibility of a hidden agenda behind the controversy, adding, “My family has a certain reputation, and some people may want to stir up controversy around me. My son, Aditya Narayan, stays away from such issues, and maybe that bothers some people. When I perform, there is a frenzy among fans who love me, and I believe in letting them be happy. Otherwise, I am not someone who engages in such things. Making my fans happy is also important.”
Clarifying the Viral Moment
Addressing the specific clip where he is seen kissing a female fan on the lips, Narayan called it a spontaneous moment rather than an intentional act. He remarked, “I have been in Bollywood for 46 years, and my reputation has never been that of someone who misbehaves with fans. In fact, I always fold my hands in gratitude for the love I receive. While performing, I often bow down, knowing that moments like these may never come again.”
In addition to the controversial moment, other clips also show Narayan kissing a woman on the cheek as the crowd cheers, with more fans lining up for selfies with the singer.

Social Media Erupts with Reactions
Despite Narayan’s explanation, a section of the online audience remains unimpressed. Social media users slammed the singer, calling his actions inappropriate. One user commented, “Tell me this is AI-generated! What a nightmare. Beyond the boundaries of disgust.” Another wrote, “A singer of his stature should be mindful of his actions in public.”
A third user expressed disappointment, stating, “Udit Narayan… no way… I hope this is AI. If not, his entire legacy is ruined.” Some also criticized the crowd’s reaction, with one comment reading, “The audience cheering makes it even worse.”
As the debate continues, the viral video has undoubtedly put Udit Narayan in an unexpected spotlight, raising questions about the boundaries between fan interactions and personal space.
