Lenovo‘s upcoming Legion Go S is expected to feature AMD Ryzen Z2 SoCs and be priced at around 600 Euros, making it a more affordable option compared to the original Legion Go. It will, however, deliver decidedly slower performance as a result of its more basic hardware.

Lenovo Legion Go S: Affordable Handheld with Ryzen Z2 SoC, Priced at 600 Euros

The Legion Go S targets those picking up a cheap handheld so Lenovo has made the trade-off of downgrading the CPU versus the original model. Although the Legion Go isn’t as powerful as the old device, but still, it will still compete with some of the best devices out in the market.

The WinFuture reports state that the Legion Go S will come in a smaller form factor than the original and will be using the Ryzen Z2 chip which is an upgrade down from the Ryzen Z1 Extreme of the original Legion Go. This should help Lenovo reduce the price significantly, with European resellers already listing the device at close to 600 Euros, which is a staggering 200 Euros less than what the original model sold for.

This price point puts the Legion Go S in direct competition with devices like the ROG Ally and the Steam Deck LCD versions. More detail specs are still yet to come, but an 8-core/16-thread Zen 3+ SoC with integrated Radeon 680M graphics is expected, a less powerful chip than the Legion Go’s hulking internals. The device will however retain the 16GB of LPDDR5 memory.

The display will shrink from 8.8 inches to 8 inches and the resolution will decrease to 1920 x 1200p from 2560 x 1600p to suit its weaker specs. The refresh rate will be down lower at 120Hz, versus 144Hz on the original. On the other hand, battery life will be better, enhanced from 49.2Wh to 55.5Wh. There are no official release date details available yet, although the device is scheduled to launch in Q1 2025.
