Google Expands Gemini AI Assistant with Split-Screen Mode for Samsung Galaxy Tablets and Pixel Fold

Google said that to increase productivity on larger Android displays, it is bringing the split-screen mode of its Gemini AI assistant support to a broader list of devices, especially Samsung Galaxy tablets, the Pixel Fold, and other foldable devices.

More About the Google Gemini AI and Split-Screen Mode

This improved split-screen feature first debuted with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and One UI 6.1.1 but was generally limited to Samsung’s newest foldable at launch. To be fair, Google does seem to have recognized the need for this change and opened up Gemini to more devices on Android tablets as well, although you won’t see Galaxy or Pixel foldable sitting too far at the perimeter of what’s still considered new.

So with this new update, Gemini now works as a floating window on tablets and foldables so that users can move it anywhere around the screen via an accessible handlebar. This new floating feature makes Gemini far more than your average AI assistant since it can now interact with multiple tasks at the same time.

One of the key features you will notice in the new Gemini interface is that it interacts slickly with content running behind. These users can ask questions to the Gemini system on whatever they see in a video or read inside of any textual document where their looks were sent, without significant hindrance. The result is an ability to boost workflows, and further the research directly on a device

For instance, watching an instructional video or reading an article users can ask Gemini for extra information without ever having to leave the flow they are already in. The AI works in order to analyze and extract information, thereby providing a completely integrated experience that effectively makes use of the split-screen arrangement on larger displays.

With its latest update, this advanced split-screen functionality has come to a wide range of devices from the Galaxy Tab series and Google’s Pixel Fold and Table. Google expands compatibility to meet the growing need for competent multitasking apps on Android — this is especially true with tablets and foldables geared toward power users. This is an extension of Gemini that is aimed at further aiding AI-driven productivity around different devices while maintaining functionality and adaptability, aligning with Google’s mission.
