Viswam Review: Gopichand’s ‘Viswam’ Receives Mixed Reactions on Release Day

The much-awaited film Viswam, featuring Macho Star Gopichand in his first collaboration with director Srinu Vaitla, finally hit theaters today, October 11, as a Dussehra release. With high expectations surrounding the film, fans have been eagerly anticipating how this action-comedy would deliver, given the strong buzz built up by its promotional content. Produced by TG Vishwaprasad under the People Media Factory banner and Venu Donepudi Chitralayam Studios, Viswam also stars Kavya Thapar in the lead role.

As the first showings began across the country, viewers quickly took to social media to share their thoughts, resulting in a variety of opinions about the film. Here’s a glimpse of what fans and critics are saying.

Viswam Review : A Mixed Bag of Reactions

The initial reactions to Viswam have been mixed. While some fans are thrilled with Gopichand’s performance and Srinu Vaitla’s signature style of filmmaking, others feel the movie didn’t quite hit the mark in certain areas.

One major talking point is Srinu Vaitla’s comedy, which has been his trademark in many of his successful films. While some audiences appreciated the humor, others felt it was somewhat outdated. Comedy flourishes in the first half, especially when actor Pridvi is on screen, drawing plenty of laughs. However, the other comedic tracks, according to some viewers, fall flat and don’t pack the punch that fans were expecting.

The chemistry between Gopichand and Kavya Thapar also didn’t resonate with everyone. While both actors give solid performances, the connection between their characters seemed underdeveloped for some audiences, leaving the romantic element of the film feeling a bit hollow.

Action and Comedy: Hits and Misses

Despite the lukewarm reception to some aspects of the film, many agree that Viswam shines in its action sequences. Known for his tough, macho persona, Gopichand doesn’t disappoint in delivering high-octane action scenes that are thrilling to watch. Some viewers even compared the film’s fight scenes to the larger-than-life action seen in Boyapati Srinu’s films, noting that Gopichand’s intense screen presence is perfectly suited to these moments.

Another highlight of Viswam is Srinu Vaitla’s trademark “train sequence,” a 30-minute-long comedic set piece that had the audience in splits. Fans of Vaitla’s previous work praised this scene as vintage Vaitla, calling it one of the best moments in the film. It’s being hailed as a standout part of the movie, proving that the director still has a knack for crafting humor that resonates with his audience, even if some of the other comedic moments didn’t land as well.

Is Vintage Srinu Vaitla Back?

For longtime fans of Srinu Vaitla, Viswam delivers a taste of the director’s earlier work, with some calling this movie a return to form. Those who enjoyed his previous films like Dhee and Ready believe that Viswam brings back elements of Vaitla’s trademark style—blending action, comedy, and larger-than-life sequences in a way that feels familiar yet entertaining.

Others, however, are less convinced. They feel that while the film has its moments, it doesn’t fully recapture the magic of Vaitla’s best work, leaving some room for improvement in both storytelling and execution.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Viswam is receiving a mixed but largely positive response from audiences. While it may not be a perfect film, it has enough entertaining moments, particularly for fans of Gopichand and Srinu Vaitla. The action scenes are top-notch, and the humor, especially in certain standout sequences, still manages to deliver laughs.

As the film continues its theatrical run, it remains to be seen how it will perform at the box office, but for now, Viswam offers a blend of high-energy action and light-hearted comedy that might just be what fans are looking for this festive season.
