The iPhone 16 and Samsung Galaxy S24 are two of the most anticipated flagship smartphones of 2024, with each brand showcasing its latest innovations.

Even though we keep hearing how Apple is improving its hallmark iOS experience every year via the iPhone 16, Samsung stays ahead in terms of continuous evolution with a more successful Android ecosystem thanks to the Galaxy S24. In this article, we will compare both phones in different aspects to determine which one is more suitable for you.

Apple iPhone 16 vs Samsung Galaxy S24

Design

iPhone 16 keeps a premium design profile, including flat edges and the use of aerospace-grade aluminum for Pro models. Contrary to that, the Galaxy S24 looks more curved and comes with a glossy glass back and an aluminum frame which makes it easier to grip. Both phones feature IP68 water resistance, but Samsung’s slightly larger build gives it a more immersive feel.

Display

The iPhone 16 offers a 6.1-inch OLED display with superb color accuracy and Dolby Vision support, perfect for media consumption. It also is capped at a 60Hz refresh rate, although the Galaxy S24’s 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display could feel smoother. Samsung has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate — perfect for gaming and fast scrolling, as well as supporting HDR10+ and achieving up to 2600 nits peak brightness.

Battery

Apple has included a Li-Ion battery (unspecified capacity) in the iPhone 16 and it is also planning to run on its superpower-efficient A18 chip which will provide good battery performance. The Galaxy S24 and is powered by a 4000mAh battery that supports faster charging with up to 25W wired and 15W wireless speeds, providing quicker lower-power support than Apple. A bigger battery for power users is always welcomed.

Camera

The iPhone 16 features a dual-camera system with a 48MP main sensor and 12MP ultrawide lens, excelling in stabilization and HDR photography. The Galaxy S24, however, includes a more versatile triple-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and 12MP ultrawide, making it superior for zoom and detailed photography. Both perform well, but Samsung edges ahead in versatility.

Processor

The iPhone 16’s A18 chip, built on a 3nm process, delivers unmatched efficiency and speed for tasks like video editing, gaming, and multitasking. Samsung’s Galaxy S24 comes with either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Exynos 2400, depending on the region. Both chips are powerful, with more RAM and storage options than the iPhone, but Apple’s A18 still leads in overall performance efficiency.
