The nine-day Shardiya, also known as Shrad Navratri, is a significant Hindu holiday celebrated all over India. It falls between September and October in the Gregorian calendar during the Hindu lunar month of Ashwin, or Sharad Ritu. This Navratri, also called the Maha Navratri, is considered to be the most important of the four Navratris: Magha (winter), Chaitra (spring), Ashadha (monsoon), and Shardiya (autumn).
The nine manifestations of Goddess Durga are the focus of this celebration, which began on October 3, 2024, and will end on October 12, the day Dusshera falls on the same year.

Today, October 6, 2024, marks the fourth day of Navratri 2024, dedicated to the worship of Maa Kushmanda. According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious timings (muhurats) for the day include:

• Brahma Muhurat: 4:39-05:28 in the morning
• The Abhijit Muhurat is from 11:45 AM to 12:32 PM.
• Pratah Sandhya: May 03–May 17, 11 a.m.
• Amrit Kalam: from 2:25 to 4:12 p.m.
• Vijaya Muhurta: from 2:06 to 2:53 o’clock


The ultimate solar deity, Maa Kushmanda, is symbolic of warmth and the life-giving force of the sun. For those who worship her on the fourth day of Navratri, it is thought to provide health, positivity, and vitality.


Bathing, meditation, offering Ganges water, red garments, flowers, vermilion, Panchmeva, Naivedya, and Shringar are all part of the ceremony. It also involves saying the mantra “Ain Hree Devayi Namah,” presenting curd and pudding, and offering a white gourd.

Reciting the Durga Chalisa and doing her aarti with a ghee or camphor lamp mark the end of the puja.

Believers dedicate themselves to Maa Kushmanda, the fourth avatar of Durga, on the fourth day of Navratri.

It is said that worshiping Maa Kushmanda reduces pain and suffering and gives her followers the courage to face illness, grief, and imperfections.

There is a certain color that has symbolic meaning for each day of Navratri. Day 4’s selected color is orange, a vivid shade that denotes life, warmth, and optimistic energy. It is customary to wear orange on this day in order to solicit the blessings of Maa Kushmanda.
