We have already seen apple launching new devices this year. Many of the already existing tools have gotten a refresh this year with new and cutting-edge hardware. However, the next big hardware event of apple, which is already taking place, is expected to bring even more devices on the table. The company is expected to announce the most significant change to its Mac hardware.
Today’s event is thought to be the starting point for the next major macOS release. The company earlier announced its macOS Big Sur (macOS 11) in June at WWDC 2020. According to sources, the macOS Big Sur will support iOS and iPadOS apps, a first for macOS.
The apps will be available from the Mac App Store instead of being ported from the iOS and iPad App Store’s. Sources claim that all iOS and iPadOS apps will be automatically displayed in the Mac App Store, although it will be up to developers if they want their apps shown.
However, sources also claim that many prominent developers have decided against doing so for the time being. Amazon, Google, and Facebook have all decided to wait for some time before launching their apps on the new device. Therefore, apps like Amazon Prime Video, Google Maps, Google Drive, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, and WhatsApp will be capable of running on ARM Macs but not anytime soon.
But, digital streaming services like Netflix will be there as well as HBO Max. Mac users will, however, be getting the web versions of most of these apps. Hence it won’t be that great of a loss.
