Microsoft has confirmed its participation in the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2024 with a special Xbox broadcast event. This highly anticipated showcase is scheduled for Thursday, September 26 at 7 PM JST (3 AM Pacific, 6 AM Eastern, 11 AM UK). With a lineup of exciting announcements expected, fans are eager to see what’s in store from Microsoft and its partners.

Microsoft

A Look at Xbox’s Upcoming Showcase

In a recent post on Xbox Wire, Larissa Hazel, Director of Gaming Integrated Marketing for Asia, shared key details about the event. Microsoft will present content from its own Xbox Game Studios as well as major publishers like Activision, Blizzard Entertainment, and Bethesda.

In addition, the showcase will feature an “exciting lineup” of games from third-party partners, many of whom are based in Japan and Asia. The event promises to highlight upcoming titles, including those joining the Xbox Game Pass service.

Big Names: Activision, Blizzard, and Bethesda

The mention of Activision, Blizzard, and Bethesda has sparked curiosity about the specific titles that might be featured. Each of these studios has several high-profile projects in development or nearing release, and Tokyo Game Show is an ideal platform to build excitement.

Activision is preparing to release Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in October 2024, making it a strong contender for a showcase appearance. Given the game’s popularity, fans are likely to see new gameplay footage or exclusive content.

Blizzard Entertainment has a packed schedule as well. Following the launch of World of Warcraft’s expansion, The War Within, Blizzard is set to release the Diablo 4 expansion Vessel of Hatred in October. Additionally, ongoing updates for Diablo Immortal may also be featured during the event.

Bethesda, known for its RPGs and MMOs, has several projects on the horizon. Titles like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online are expected to receive updates. There’s also excitement around the Starfield expansion, Shattered Space, which is in the works. Bethesda’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is scheduled for a December 2024 release, and Doom: The Dark Ages by Id Software is slated for 2025.

First-Party and Third-Party Surprises

Microsoft’s first-party studios are developing various projects, but the event will likely focus on titles expected to release soon. Avowed, an action RPG from Obsidian, has been delayed until February 2025, but there’s a chance it could make an appearance in this broadcast to build anticipation.

In addition to first-party titles, the broadcast will showcase games from third-party partners across Japan and Asia. This includes developers like Square Enix, whose Final Fantasy 16 could be announced for Xbox consoles. Fans are also hoping for news regarding Final Fantasy 7 remakes coming to Microsoft platforms.

What to Expect from the Show

The Xbox broadcast at Tokyo Game Show 2024 promises to deliver a mix of blockbuster announcements and updates from Microsoft’s first-party studios, as well as from renowned Japanese and Asian developers.

Fans can expect new trailers, gameplay footage, and perhaps even surprise game reveals that have been kept under wraps. With major franchises like Call of Duty, Diablo, and Final Fantasy in the spotlight, the event is shaping up to be an exciting moment for Xbox and its fans worldwide.
