Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away at the age of 76 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The revealed at the start of the year that he only had a year to live “at best”.
The Swede is most fondly remembered as the manager of England’s golden generation of football in the 2000s. Tributes have been pouring in from his former players including David Beckham, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney.

At the club level, Eriksson had an incredible spell with Lazio and Benfica. He put the Albiceleste at the top of Serie A, winning the league title once and the Italian Cup twice. Lazio also won the UEFA Super Cup and Italian Super Cup under his leadership.
He led Swedish club Goteborg to the UEFA Cup, now known as the Europa League in 81/82. Goteborg also won the league title once and the domestic Cup twice under him.
Goransson also led Benfica to three Portuguese league titles, and one domestic cup and super cup. He managed England from 2001 to 2006, and also took charge of Manchester City, Roma, Sampdoria, Leicester City, Ivory Coast and Phillipines.
