Google Pixel 9 Series: August Launch Date and Key Specifications Revealed

Google will hold its Made by Google 2024 event in August, and this is where we’ll see the Pixel 9 series unveiled. This upcoming lineup expected to consist of four models, the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Early leaks, rumours and official teasers have given us an idea of what to expect from these devices.

The Upcoming Google Pixel 9 Series

While Google usually takes the wraps off its new Pixel phones in October, it’s going for an earlier August launch this year. The Pixel 9 lineup will be arriving on August 13 globally, followed by the Indian debut slated for August 14. So, the smartphones will be up for grabs on Flipkart in India.

Also, leaks from last month said that the Pixel 9 series may be priced higher than previous models. The new leak suggests the Pixel 9 Pro will come in broad daylight with a starting price of $999.99 (around ₹84,000) while the Pixel 9 Pro XL (256GB) may retail for $1,199.99 (around ₹1,01,000). The regular Pixel 9 may come with a starting price tag of around $650-700 (Roughly ₹59,000). Pixel 9 Pro Fold will arrive in two options – the first with 256GB for $1,799 (roughly ₹1,51,000) and second having 512GB storage which is expected to cost around $1,919 (approximately ₹1,61,000).

In terms of specifications, the Pixel 9 will feature a 6.3-inch Autua display, the Tensor G4 chip, and up to 12GB of RAM, along with a 50MP primary camera and a 48MP ultrawide lens. The Pixel 9 Pro will offer a 6.34-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4,600mAh battery, and a triple rear camera setup with three 50MP sensors. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a 6.73-inch OLED panel, a 5,050mAh battery, and a similar camera setup. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will feature an 8-inch main display, a 6.3-inch cover screen, and up to 16GB of RAM, along with advanced AI tools and a built-in VPN.

Although utilizing the most recent Tensor G4 processor, better front camera and other AI highlights, Pixel 9 series have big improvements over its predecessors to stand out from Google’s disconnected offerings.
