This announcement came during discussions about Shrek 5, where Murphy mentioned recording sessions for both projects. Murphy slipped up on the information in a talk with Collider about Shrek 5 and the spin-off where he said, “We started doing [‘Shrek 5’] months ago. I did this. I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. ‘Shrek’ is coming out and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a ‘Shrek,’ and we’re doing a Donkey [movie].” The prospect of a Donkey spin-off adds a new dimension to the Shrek universe, potentially exploring untold stories and adventures of one of its most beloved sidekicks. As details emerge, fans eagerly anticipate how this spin-off will expand upon the rich tapestry of the Shrek franchise.
