IPL Stumps Price 2024: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is renowned for its glitz, glamour, and cutting edge technology, but behind the scenes, there’s a surprising element that comes with a hefty price tag- the LED stumps.

Let’s have a look into more details : IPL Stumps Price 2024

In the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, viewers witnessed a brief halt in play due to a damaged leg stump, shedding light on the significant investment behind each pair of wickets. In the current IPL season, the price range for stumps is staggering, ranging from INR 10 to 35 lakhs, with LED enabled bails commanding an additional INR 40 to 50,000. These figures underscore the substantial financial commitment associated with maintaining the league’s technological edge.

The Tech Behind the Price

The high price of IPL stumps is because they’re made with advanced technology. They have special light sensors that make sure they work perfectly during matches. Each set of wickets is tested a lot to make sure it works right. The LED lights on the stumps help fans see better and they also help referees make the right decisions, especially when it’s close if a player is out or not.

Manufacturers and Costs

Zing International, an Australian company based in Adelaide, leads the charge in producing IPL’s LED stumps. Reports suggest that a single set of stumps costs the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) approximately US $40,000. However, this price doesn’t include ownership; rather, the BCCI rents these stumps for use in IPL matches and India’s home internationals. Other manufacturers like StumpVision and Intelliconn offer LED stumps within the range of US $5,000 to US $20,000.

The significance of IPL stumps’ cost was thrust into the limelight during a thrilling encounter in the 2023 edition. Arshdeep Singh’s formidable bowling performance against the Mumbai Indians showcased the consequences of broken stumps. His ferocious final over, which dismantled the middle wickets, underscored the financial implications for the BCCI. While Singh’s heroics sealed victory for Punjab Kings, they also highlighted the hefty price tag associated with maintaining cricket’s technological advancements.

As the IPL continues to captivate audiences worldwide, the investment in LED stumps serves as a testament to cricket’s evolution into a modern, tech driven sport. While the price may raise eyebrows, the enhanced viewing experience and improved decision making capabilities justify the expense.
