Calling all creative minds! Nothing is breaking new ground with The Community Edition Project, a revolutionary initiative that invites its community to co-create a special edition Phone (2a). This is your chance to leave your mark on the design, packaging, marketing, and overall user experience of the highly anticipated smartphone.

Nothing Announces Smartphone Co-Creation Initiative – The Community Edition Project

Unleash Your Inner Designer:

The project unfolds across six months and four stages:

• Stage 1: Hardware Design (March) – Put your unique spin on Phone (2a)’s hardware! The winning design will be brought to life in collaboration with Nothing’s London design team. Submissions open March 26th, 2024.
• Stage 2: Wallpaper Design (May) – Craft a stunning set of wallpapers that seamlessly complement the chosen hardware design. The winning collection will be pre-installed on the Phone (2a) Community Edition.
• Stage 3: Packaging Design (June) – Design a packaging experience that goes beyond the box! Create a unique unboxing journey that reflects the hardware and wallpaper designs from previous stages.
• Stage 4: Marketing Campaign (July) – Develop a creative marketing proposal for Phone (2a) Community Edition. Work with Nothing’s Brand & Creative team to design a visual identity and marketing assets that will generate excitement for the phone’s launch.

Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder, envisions a future where “the boundaries between company and community are erased.” This project embodies that vision, empowering the community to contribute to Nothing’s creative process.

Join the Movement:

The Nothing Community is encouraged to participate in any stage that aligns with their skills. Submissions will involve uploading images, videos, and other media that effectively showcase your ideas. Each stage will be accompanied by a detailed brief from Nothing, outlining rules, guidelines, and helpful tips for creating a successful entry.

Community Votes and Expert Selection:

Following each stage’s closing, the community will have the chance to vote for their favorite entries. Additionally, an internal Nothing panel of experts in each relevant field will evaluate all valid submissions to select a winner.

Grand Finale in London:

The four category winners will be invited to London by the Team for the official launch of Phone (2a) Community Edition. This grand event will showcase all winning designs coming together in a single, remarkable device, marking the product’s official launch before it hits store shelves.
