Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite X1E80100 Outperforms Intel’s Core 7 Ultra 155H in Pre-Launch Windows Performance Demo

Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon X Elite has shown performance compared to Intels Meteor Lake in a test, on Windows as shared by YouTuber Erdi Özüağ via TechPowerUp. The Snapdragon X Elite model X1E80100 excelled over Intels Core 7 Ultra 155H in all four tests achieving both narrower victories. While these results are promising for the Snapdragon X Elite it’s important to consider the test conditions with caution.

More About the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite

The performance comparison was conducted at a Qualcomm event during months Mobile World Congress. However, Özüağs video seems to be the release of these benchmark findings. Given the language used in the video and no similar disclosures post-MWC, it is possible that Özüağ may have shared this information prematurely or simply finished the video before others who didn’t find the benchmarks as significant.

Both laptops that come with the Snapdragon X Elite and Meteor Lake were manufactured by Qualcomm. They were used in comparisons, such, as NPU performance tests. The Snapdragon X Elite laptop was equipped with a 12-core X1E80100 CPU running at 4.3 GHz and consuming 28 watts of power paired with 64GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Intel laptop likely had its set of specifications.

During the comparison tests the laptops were put through tasks to showcase their abilities, including file compression using 7 Zip code compilation in Visual Studio and running the 3DMarks Wild Life Extreme GPU test. In CPU tasks like using 7 Zip and Visual Studio, the X1E80100 slightly outperformed the 155H by showing a 46% advantage in Visual Studio. However, both chips performed well in the Wild Life Extreme test highlighting Qualcomm’s ability to compete with Intel in terms of integrated graphics.

Özüağ also shared data from UL Procyon that revealed a 460% performance edge of the X1E80100 over the 155H in NPU performance. This significant lead raises questions about how optimized Intel’s systems for this benchmark compared to Qualcomm’s results from a separate MWC demonstration. These results are consistent with earlier performance comparisons between Snapdragon X Elite and processors, from both Intel and AMD.

Nevertheless, we should approach this information with an eye given Qualcomm’s involvement, in creating the reference laptop and the restricted scope of benchmarks showcased in a controlled environment. Although the Snapdragon X Elite showcases performance a thorough assessment is necessary, for a complete understanding.
