Microsoft to provide AI skilling opportunities to 2 million people in India by 2025

A recent Work Trend Index by Microsoft revealed that 90% of Indian leaders believe new skills are needed due to AI growth, with 78% of workers feeling inadequately skilled. ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA targets Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, along with rural areas, to bridge this gap and promote inclusive socio-economic progress.

Smt. Trishaljit Sethi, from the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, emphasizes the commitment to realizing AI’s potential for India’s youth. Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India & South Asia, highlights the initiative’s role in democratizing AI skills nationwide.

Partnerships with government bodies, nonprofit organizations, and corporations will drive this initiative. Microsoft aims to train 500,000 students and job seekers, focusing on women in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The company also plans to raise awareness among 400,000 students in remote regions through various educational programs.

The partnership with India’s National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building will train 250,000 government officers in generative AI, enhancing digital governance in rural India. Furthermore, the Generative AI Skills Challenge will convene India Nonprofit Leaders Summit to empower nonprofits with AI skilling resources.

The company’s commitment to empowering organizations in India with AI reflects its dedication to fostering social impact and advancing technology for the greater good. To learn more about this initiative and Microsoft’s efforts in India, visit the link provided.
