Flipkart, a leading e-commerce platform in India, has collaborated with ModiFace, an AR technology provider, to launch its AI-powered Advanced Skin Analyser. This tool is the first of its kind in India, providing detailed skin health insights to users and offering personalized skincare product recommendations based on their specific skin types and concerns.

Flipkart’s Modiface powered Skin Analyser – an AI-based feature sees strong user adoption

The Advanced Skin Analyser allows users to take a selfie and answer a few questions about their skin type and age for a customized skin evaluation. It scores users’ skin on various aspects like pores, wrinkles, pigmentation, etc., and recommends a tailored skincare routine. The tool also simplifies the traditional skin diagnosis process by allowing users to directly purchase recommended products from Flipkart’s skincare catalogue.

Ravi Krishnan, Head of Flipkart Labs, emphasized that this innovation aims to address the growing demand for personalized skincare solutions and enhance customers’ shopping experiences. He said, “This tool helps users identify the most suitable skincare products, providing them with a rationale for the choices.”

The Skin Analyser uses an AI algorithm validated with over 10,000 images, ensuring accurate recommendations. Users typically spend seven minutes on average interacting with this feature, which has led to a 21% increase in product conversion rates. The tool was launched during Flipkart’s ‘Glam up Fest’ in Mumbai and is seen as a significant step towards providing data-driven shopping experiences.
