The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is less than a week away. After the tournament was postponed, after many hindrances and altercations, the IPL will begin on September 19 in UAE.
T20, especially IPL, has always been a type of cricket that is constantly evolving. Be it with the invention of various shots like reverse-sweep or the utilization of slower deliveries with the ball. Therefore, someone who can tick both those boxes can be an important component for every team.
Today we will name some of the best all-rounders in each team of the IPL. The fact that the tournament is in UAE, will bring an interesting element to every aspect of the game. Therefore, they will be judged on the basis of their all-rounded skillset and their suitability on UAE conditions.
Mumbai Indians
HARDIK PANDYA – Hardik Pandya’s fearless batting and useful bowling has sky-rocketed his way in the Indian National Team. Pandya has been instrumental in MI’ success. He will have to work more on consistency though.
KRUNAL PANDYA – Unlike his brother, Krunal Pandya has been like an unsung hero of the mighty MI team. He will be more effective in UAE conditions due to his speedy variations.
Chennai Super Kings
DWAYNE BRAVO – Dwayne Bravo is considered as one of the best all-rounders in T20 cricket. He is fresh off a CPL tournament win where he picked up his 500th T20 wicket. He takes charge of the death overs while bowling and can also score in them while batting.
RAVINDRA JADEJA – Jadeja will be useful under UAE conditions due to his ability to bowl speedy deliveries. He will be an important factor in the absence of Harbhajan Singh.
Kolkata Knight Riders
ANDRE RUSSELL – Russell is one of the best and most feared cricketers in the world. He can bowl during both powerplay and death overs. However, while batting he knows one thing, to ATTACK. KKR management is also thinking of promoting him at number 3, which can be even more disastrous for the opponent team.
SUNIL NARINE – It is safe to say that Sunil Narine is a proper IPL all-rounder. KKR has famously used Narine as a pinch-hitter in the opening slot. He has consistently provided the side with brisk starts and even half-centuries.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
VIJAY SHANKAR – The Indian international will have the responsibility to carry the Sunrisers Hyderabad. 2019 was a good year for Shankar, however, he will have to prove more in the T20 format.
Sunrisers have two experienced and top all-rounders in the world namely Mitchell Marsh and Mohammad Nabi. However, unfortunately, due to restrictions of playing only four foreign players, they may not make it into the regular playing 11 at least at first.
Rajasthan Royals
BEN STOKES – Stokes is currently one of the best all-rounders in the world in all three formats. He will be considered as the one to watch out for this IPL.
SHREYAS GOPAL – Gopal started only as a leg-spinner. However, over the years he has shown improved batting and can score handy runs down the orders.
Delhi Capitals
MARCUS STOINIS – Stoinis has improved a lot and has been a staple part of the mighty Australian team. He will provide firepower to the Capitals’ side.
KEEMO PAUL – Despite at the tender age of 22, Paul is an IPL tested all-rounder and can prove handy with his slower deliveries.
Kings XI Punjab
GLENN MAXWELL – Maxwell has proven to be more than just an attacking batsman as he made his way up to first place in the list of top T20 all-rounders.
JAMES NEESHAM – Neesham has been a staple all-rounder in the New Zealand T20 team. He can be extremely dangerous with the bat and can chip in with some good overs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
CHRIS MORRIS – Morris will bring in a lot of T20 specific experience in the side which they always lacked. He will be extremely important as RCB has invested a heavy chunk of money on him as well.
MOEEN ALI – Ali has shown great potential last year by literally carrying the RCB middle-order. There will be expectations from him this time around as well.
SHIVAM DUBE – Dube can prove to be a lethal batsman. He showed great potential in the NZ series earlier this year. He is definitely someone on whom RCB can invest.
