In the decisive regional final against Rwanda, Uganda exhibited their cricket prowess by restricting the opposition to a mere 65 runs in 18.5 overs. With a disciplined bowling performance, Uganda seized control of the match and efficiently chased down the target in 8.1 overs, losing only one wicket in the process. This commanding performance not only secured their top-two finish but also affirmed their place in the prestigious T20 World Cup.

While Uganda basks in the glory of their qualification, the Africa Qualifier witnessed the disappointment of Zimbabwe, considered a favourite in the tournament. Despite winning three out of five games, Zimbabwe failed to secure a berth in the T20 World Cup, finishing third in the regional final with six points. Global Lineup Finalized for 2024 T20 World Cup

With Uganda’s qualification, the lineup for the 2024 T20 World Cup is now complete. Eight teams, namely Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, earned automatic qualification based on their top-eight finish in the previous edition. Hosts West Indies and the USA also secured automatic berths. Afghanistan and Bangladesh, determined by their T20I rankings, joined the fray. The remaining eight spots were decided through qualifiers, with Africa, Asia, and Europe each having two qualification spots, and one spot each allocated to the Americas and East-Asia Pacific regions.

The stage is set for a thrilling tournament, scheduled to take place between June 4-30 next year. The qualified teams that will vie for T20 cricket supremacy include the powerhouses Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The host nations, the West Indies and the USA will bring their flair to the competition. Afghanistan and Bangladesh, based on their T20I rankings, will aim to make their mark alongside Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Nepal, Oman, Namibia, and the newest entrant, Uganda.
