In the final week of October 2023, Xiaomi introduced its latest smartphones, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. The standard variant, having obtained BIS certification, suggests an imminent launch. A September 2023 report from Xiaomiui hinted at the launch timeline for the upcoming Redmi K70 series, succeeding the Redmi K60 series.
Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi K60 Ultra in August 2023, marking the conclusion of the K60 series. The anticipated vanilla K70 is likely to debut in India as the Poco F6. An alleged K70 series smartphone was recently spotted on GeekBench by MySmartPrice. Xiaomi President Lu Weibing disclosed processor details for the upcoming K70 series.
Redmi K70 Series Expected Specifications
Weibo posts by Xiaomi President suggest the Redmi K70 series will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, recognized for performance and efficiency improvements over its predecessors. Weibing posed a question about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 replacing the Snapdragon 870 found in various smartphones. He labeled the Gen 2 chipset as the flagship for 2023.
While the vanilla Redmi K60 used the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, it remains uncertain if the K70 will follow suit. Although the Redmi K70 moniker wasn’t explicitly confirmed, the timing of Weibing’s post implies a connection to the upcoming series. Xiaomi confirmed the K70 series will employ the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, likely reserved for the K70 Pro, as per a GeekBench listing.
Another K70 series model, possibly K70e, appeared on GeekBench with the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 SoC. 3C certification for the K70 series revealed the vanilla K70 will support 90W wired fast charging. Leaked renders unveiled a centered punch-hole cutout and bezel-less design, while the rectangular camera cutout hinted at a triple-rear camera setup. Digital Chat Station suggests the K70 Pro will feature a 2K flat AMOLED display, and the device is rumored to have a 5120mAh battery with 120W fast charging technology.
