Reliance Jio plans to launch a cloud PC laptop for Rs 15000 details
As per an ET article, the forthcoming laptop, with an approximate price tag of INR 15,000, will serve as a “dumb terminal.”
This indicates that the Jio cloud will take care of all processing and storage duties. The present ownership cost, which is approximately INR 50,000, is anticipated to be much decreased using this strategy. Furthermore, consumers will have fast access to services.
It is presently testing the HP Chromebook for the suggested cloud PC, according to the ET’s referenced sources. The cloud PC will be available for a monthly subscription from Jio; the exact cost will be determined at a later time. To access computing services, users can install cloud PC software on any desktop or smart TV, saving them money on new hardware purchases.
“A laptop with the Jio cloud is available for ₹15,000. Your dumb terminal functions similarly to a typical laptop, but because it stores all of its memory, processing power, and other components in the cloud, it is more expensive. Several users can use the same laptop with customized services,” the official stated. Numerous services will be included as part of the monthly membership, and more specialized functions can be added for a fee.
“The cost of licensing can be lower as the same PC can be used by multiple people of a family with their personalised logins, instead of having two-three devices,” a different official claimed.
The possibility in the digital services space is enormous, particularly for hybrid workspaces, which is why Jio wants to be a major player. A secure environment for their digital assets is something that many firms these days give to their employees who work from home. Even when an employee works from home, Jio wants to offer digital services with the same level of security.
“In the future, these services will dominate the market. For us, connectivity is merely the surface layer. The concept behind Jio is not connectedness. The official stated that digital services are key to Jio’s business model. Prioritizing universal connectivity for everyone is the company’s initial goal. Subsequently, it plans to offer digital services that will generate more money.
