After the new deal for Vinicius Jr, Real Madrid are expected to renew his compatriot, Rodrygo’s contract this week. The 22-year-old’s new deal will run until 2028, one more year than that of Vinicius.
The new deal is expected to end all rumours of a potential shock sale in 2024, with a €1 billion release clause inserted as well. The Brazilian is one of the vital players for their future project, and will formally commit once he has signed the deal.
Rodrygo to sign new deal with Real Madrid until 2028
The stats have not been as favourable for the youngster this season, scoring only one goal in 11 LaLiga games thus far. With Jude Bellingham taking up most of the goalscoring duties as the man in the box, the wide players have had a more indirect role.
But in spite of the lack of goals, his influence on the team remains a key component. Moreover, his ability to turn things around from the bench has salvaged Real Madrid on a number of occasions when all hope was seemingly lost.
So far, Rodrygo has played 179 games for Los Blancos and has scored 39 goals while providing 33 assists since his transfer from Santos in 2017. The winger has also earned 18 caps for the Brazilian national team, scoring four goals so far in his career with the Selecao.
