The SSD market recently has exploded recently and people are opting for the faster solid-state disks more than ever because of their blazing speeds and efficiently. Almost all laptops these days use SSD to make them faster, every PC build uses SSDs as boot drives, and every enterprise offers both SATA and NVMe SSDs for their customers who need everything faster in this 21st century.

So, with demand, the production has increased as well and we are seeing low-price SSDs and a lot of variants with different speeds targeted towards different sets of users. As we know, the single-level cell (SLC) SSD is the most basic type of SSD as they accept one bit per memory cell, however, SLCs are one the fastest type of SSD.

Intel launches new faster 665p NVMe SSDs with 2nd Gen QLC technology

While quad-level cell (QLC) SDD drives can write four bits per cell, making the performance faster with some caching hiccups, although it is getting improved with days. These major chipmakers are now ramping up their production for QLC NAND flash output and are all set to soon penetrate at a faster pace into the markets not only for enterprise-level but also for the consumer-level storage devices, according to sources of Digitimes.

This also comes from the fact that QLC NAND-based SSDs are much more in demand for data center and other enterprise usages since 2020 for higher capacities and lower-cost SATA storage devices. QLC has helped to drive a more approachable price point helping to narrow the gap between a traditional HDD and solid state storage.

QLC SSDs are also finding its way into consumer-level solutions as well from manufacturers like Crucial, Intel, Seagate, and others, helping to reduce costs and increase the speeds.
