Elec claims that the first low-cost phone from Samsung to use an OLED display will be the Galaxy A15, which is anticipated to go on sale in 2024. Along with better-viewing angles, richer colors, and less battery consumption, this could also suggest that Samsung’s budget-friendly series will likely include greater refresh rates.

As to the rumor, Samsung intends to employ a stiff OLED panel on the Galaxy A15, a technology that was also employed on the Galaxy A24. Notably, flexible OLEDs with polyimide substrates are used in high-end flagship smartphones, while rigid OLEDs with glass substrates are used.

According to The Elec, the market for stiff OLED panels has decreased as a result of Chinese display manufacturers offering flexible OLEDs at a lower cost. In addition, it has made stiff OLED panels less expensive than LCD panels. Samsung intends to increase the usage rate of its stiff OLED screens by incorporating them into its entry-level products.
