Oppo introduced the A79 5G in India last Friday, expanding its A-series lineup with the latest 5G smartphone offering. This new device, available in two color choices, is equipped with a MediaTek processor, 8GB RAM, and 128GB of storage. Serving as the successor to the Oppo A78 5G, the A79 5G enters the market in direct competition with models such as the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, Vivo T2 5G, and Samsung Galaxy M34 5G.

Priced at ₹19,999 in India, the Oppo A79 5G offers a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Interested buyers can pre-book the device through various channels, including Oppo’s official e-store, Amazon, Flipkart, and other major retail outlets, with sales scheduled to begin on October 28.
The Oppo A79 5G runs on ColorOS 13.1 and features a dual SIM (Nano) setup. It boasts a 6.72-inch full-HD+ LCD screen with a remarkable 90Hz refresh rate, 391ppi pixel density, a peak brightness of 650nits, and an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91.4%. Driving its performance is the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 6020 SoC, coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS2.2 storage. Utilizing the RAM Expansion feature, users can virtually expand the available memory up to 16GB by utilizing unutilized storage.
In the camera department, the Oppo A79 5G is equipped with a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 77-degree field of view, alongside a 2-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture lens. For selfies and video calls, the device offers an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper with an f/2.0 aperture lens.
Powering the device is a robust 5,000mAh battery, complemented by 33W SuperVOOC fast charging support. This rapid charging capability allows the battery to charge from zero to 51 percent in just 30 minutes. The battery is designed to deliver up to 26 hours of talk time and a maximum of 14 hours of video playback time on a single charge. The Oppo A79 5G’s dimensions measure 165x76x7.9mm, and it weighs 193 grams. Notably, the handset boasts an IPX4 rating, indicating its resistance to splashes and spills.
