On the same day that Sumit Antil broke the world record in Men’s Javelin F64, Sundar Singh Gurjar stepped into the limelight by creating a new world record in Men’s F46 Javelin. India’s Sundar Singh Gurjar, the Tokyo Paralympic bronze medallist, catapulted himself into the record books with an astonishing 68.60m throw in the final. This remarkable performance not only secured him the gold medal but also established a new world record. The previous world record of 67.79m, held by Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Priyantha, was surpassed in style.

Sundar Gurjar Singh’s journey to the world record and gold medal was a tale of grit and determination. He commenced with a 63.05m throw in his first attempt, showing his intent right from the start. Despite a foul in his second attempt, he maintained his lead at the top.

In his third throw, he outdid himself, registering a distance of 66.21m. As the competition heated up, his compatriot Rinku threw 67.08m in his final attempt, momentarily challenging Sundar’s position.

Pushed to the second spot ahead of his final throw, Gurjar Singh displayed nerves of steel. With immense pressure on his shoulders, he delivered an incredible throw of 68.6m, securing both the gold medal and the world record.

Sundar Singh Gurjar’s victory was part of an exceptional achievement for India as they completed a podium sweep in the Men’s F46 Javelin event. Rinku and Ajeet Singh showcased their prowess, securing the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Rinku’s silver came with a spectacular 67.08m throw, and Ajeet Singh’s bronze was secured with a remarkable 63.52m throw. This feat not only demonstrated India’s dominance in para athletics but also painted a picture of the country’s bright future in sports.
