Honor, the former subsidiary of Huawei, made its return to the Indian market this September with the introduction of the Honor 90 5G in partnership with Honor Tech, under the leadership of its CEO, Madhav Sheth. However, Honor Tech is not stopping there and is eager to broaden its product range in India. In a recent media interview, Madhav Sheth shared the company’s ambitious plans, which include launching a foldable smartphone in the first half of the coming year. Additionally, he hinted at another Honor smartphone launch, possibly happening before the end of this year.
The Upcoming Devices from Honor Tech
Speaking with the Financial Express, Madhav Sheth disclosed that Honor Tech’s next smartphone launch is anticipated to occur, quite possibly, by the close of this year. Beyond this, he confirmed the company’s goal to introduce at least one foldable device to the Indian market by early 2024. He emphasized that Honor Tech is actively working on commencing local manufacturing operations in India by early next year. Their plan is to shift a significant portion of their product portfolio to locally manufactured devices. Sheth mentioned that Honor Tech is currently engaged in discussions with three potential partners, and contracts are expected to be finalized shortly.
Honor’s foldable smartphones, such as the Honor Magic Vs and Honor Magic V2, have primarily been available in China. With the impending launch of Honor’s foldable device in India, the company is poised to enter the competitive foldable smartphone market, which includes contenders like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5, Oppo Find N3 Flip, Google Pixel Fold, Tecno Phantom V Flip, and more.
The re-entry of Honor into the Indian smartphone landscape was marked by the launch of the Honor 90 last month, signaling a fresh start for the brand in India after a hiatus of three years. Honor had previously exited the Indian market in 2020, making its recent resurgence all the more significant.
