To benefit from AMD’s FSR 3, Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum received PC updates on Friday. The technology will be incorporated into Immortals of Aveum’s console editions, according to Ascendant Studios. There will be several additional games.
The option to insert additional frames made using AI was added to FSR 3, which developed from AMD’s upscaling solution like Nvidia’s DLSS 3 did. FSR 3 supports modern GPUs from all vendors, however DLSS upscaling requires Nvidia’s RTX graphics cards with DLSS 3 Frame Generation unique to the RTX 4000 series.
Graphic cards are not all made equal, though. On Radeon RX 5000, Nvidia RTX 2000, or later, AMD advises turning on the new technology. However, FSR 3 is not officially supported even if it will activate on older GPUs.
Cyberpunk 2077, Squad, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Black Myth: Wukong, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and other games are on the list of those aiming to incorporate the functionality. Additionally, the FSR 3 update for Forspoken is compatible with the game’s free demo, enabling people to try it out before spending money on it.
AMD measurements show that upscaling and AI-generated frames can occasionally quadruple frame rates when compared to playing games at native resolution. The company provides a chart that claims significant increases for frame production without upscaling, but it does not provide figures comparing the combination to upscaling alone.
In addition to FSR 3, AMD also unveiled Native AA mode, a competitor to Nvidia’s DLAA, which enhances native-resolution presentations with AI-based anti-aliasing for the best possible image quality.
Frame Generation, according to the manufacturer, consumes Native AA’s performance cost to almost double framerates.
In the upcoming weeks, tech publications—including TechSpot—will probably subject FSR 3 to more thorough testing and comparisons with DLSS 3. Immortals of Aveum, however, is capable of using both frame creation techniques, hence DSOGaming was able to publish an early face-off.
