YouTube Music Subscription Plans in India: A Guide to Making the Right Choice

Google has introduced annual subscription plans for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium in India, offering users the option to pay upfront for a 12-month non-recurring subscription. This new offering is now available in multiple countries, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Germany, Thailand, and Japan.

Everything about YouTube Music Premium

Previously, YouTube had only offered monthly and quarterly subscription options. As an introductory promotion, Google provided discounted rates on these annual subscriptions. Users can currently purchase a yearly subscription for YouTube Premium for ₹1,159 and ₹889 for YouTube Music Premium. The standard pricing for these annual plans after the promotion period has not been disclosed yet.

Users who want to switch to an annual Premium plan can do so by canceling their existing membership and signing up for the annual subscription. Prepaid users will automatically transition to the annual plans once their prepaid plan expires. However, there are currently no plans for partial refunds, so users are advised to wait until their current plan expires before opting for an annual subscription.

It’s worth noting that payment for these new annual plans is prepaid and non-recurring. This means users will need to manually purchase the subscription once the original annual plan expires. While the YouTube Premium annual plans can be signed up for using Android and the web, an in-app sign-up option for iOS devices is not yet available.

Before introducing annual plans, Google charged ₹129 per month for YouTube Premium. The Family Plan, which allows for a joint account for up to five family members, costs ₹189 per month. Students could access monthly subscriptions starting at ₹79 per month, subject to annual verification.

For YouTube Music Premium, monthly subscriptions started at ₹109 per month, with family plans starting at ₹149 per month, ₹309 for 3 months and ₹990 for 12 months. Students had access to monthly subscriptions at ₹59 per month.
