The Great Indian Festival, Amazon’s premier sales event, will begin on October 10. The e-commerce behemoth announced on its app on September 25 that Prime members would once again receive early access to the deal.

Both Amazon’s Great Indian Festival and rival Flipkart’s Big Billion Days (BBD) have coincided in the past and will again this year, despite the fact that Flipkart has not yet revealed the dates for its main sale.

The holiday season sales that e-commerce businesses run from September to October are essential because they help gauge consumer sentiment, which in turn affects how well businesses operate. In total, sales during the holiday season comprise around 50% of the gross merchandise value (GMV) for e-commerce businesses.

As long as consumer confidence is positive, holiday sales are expected to increase by up to 20% year over year (YoY), reaching Rs 90,000 crore in GMV this year, according to Redseer analysts.

Due to the substantial discounts offered by the businesses, many buyers add items to their wishlists and finish their purchases during these promotions. For instance, Amazon’s Great Indian Festival teases a discount of 40–60% on products in the fashion, TV, home, electronics, and accessories, as well as on cellphones, electronics, and other categories.

Customers are also eager to get the just-released iPhone 15, which is currently popular in India. While some people waited hours in line outside Apple stores to purchase the iPhone 15, others are waiting for the item to go on sale on e-commerce sites.

The sale launches at a time when the nation’s e-commerce sector is not expanding as quickly as it once did and is also being harmed by inflation, but the company is optimistic. The world’s largest online retailer has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Postal Service and a dedicated freight lane with the Indian Railways that will speed up delivery for its seller partners.
