Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was present during Real Madrid’s Youth League final match against Benfica at the Colovray Stadium in Nyon (Switzerland).
Perez said after the game to the club’s official website: “I’ve had a great time. Everything requires an awful lot of hard work and sacrifice. These young lads have played four games inside nine days and no matter how strong and youthful they might be, that is significant. We’re delighted to be here in Nyon lifting our first Youth League”.
“This serves to highlight something we work very hard on, in our academy. It’s hugely important to us. We’ve already seen many players plying their trade around the world, in Spain and of course in our first team. This encourages us to continue our focus on something we strongly believe in and always have, which is our academy”.
Benfica gave a difficult fight to the LaLiga side as Goncalo Ramos scored a brace and they went very close to the equaliser when the ball hit the bar in the 93rd minute. But Real Madrid held them successfully to clinch their first UEFA Youth League title.
