John Terry has explained Mason Mount’s departure from Chelsea this summer while speaking at an event. The Cobham academy graduate left to sign for rivals Manchester United this summer in a deal worth €60 million.
Moreover, the video where he announced his departure left fans furious as they figured out that he was reading a script, and that it lacked any emotion at all. His decision to move to one of their bitter rivals also didn’t go down well with them.
John Terry leaps to Mason Mount’s defence after United move
“Mase is proper Chels through and through. There’s always two sides to a story and I know the other side to it. I’m not going to air that tonight but there’s another side to the story. Let’s not be too harsh on Mason when he comes back [to Stamford Bridge with Man Utd],” Terry said.
The former Chelsea captain also came through the academy and spent 19 years with the Blues before retiring in 2017. He is considered one of the club’s greatest legends, and has requested fans to not be very harsh when United visit Stamford Bridge.
However, the Chelsea faithful are not likely to pay heed to his advice since they don’t quite know the full story yet.
Mason Mount’s start to life at Manchester United has not gone down well. Moreover, he finds himself injured but will be available after the international break.
