AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU is a performance beast

The AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU may wind up being as quick as the Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU based on the purported 3DMark Time Spy performance. We now have another performance figure for the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT that comes directly from Kopite7kimi, after the rumoured AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT 3DMark Time GPU performance.

The AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, which will retail for $499 US at launch, will reportedly score over 19,000 points on 3DMark Time Spy, according to the leaker. This shows that early rumours about the card giving 6800 XT performance in a somewhat more efficient package and cheaper price point seem to be genuine even though it doesn’t exactly surpass the Radeon RX 6800 XT from the previous generation.

If you compare the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT’s price to that of the competition’s $599 US RTX 4070 12 GB, it is pretty reasonable. If AMD’s own statistics are to be trusted, it provides more VRAM and is touted to be generally 3-5% faster than the competition.

Additionally, it should be kept in mind that the card is no longer a mass-produced variety, thus the available supplies should be quite constrained for those who argue that the RX 6800 XT 16 GB alone would be a better purchase than the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT.

However, the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT supports HYPR-RX with Anti-Lag+ and FSR 3 with Anti-Lag+ is also supposed to function well with RDNA 3 GPUs, so that’s something to keep in mind. The card does cost $500 US, with some offers bringing it down to $450 US. However, aside from a few minor advantages, both cards should end up being relatively similar, which is sort of disappointing and doesn’t provide current 6800 XT owners much reasons to upgrade to the new 7800 XT graphics cards.
