Folarin Balogun will be joining Monaco on a permanent deal from Arsenal, with the two clubs reaching an agreement over a €40 million fee. The player has given the green light to the transfer and has also completed his medical for the move.
The striker spent last season on loan with Stade Reims, where he scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 37 games. He was one of the top scorers in the competition and is now back in France after an impressive first season in the league.
Folarin Balogun to sign for Monaco from Arsenal
The USMNT international wanted to be a starting player wherever he would play. And with Gabriel Jesus in the squad, it wouldn’t have been possible under Mikel Arteta. Monaco have been able to convince the youngster to join them, and are expected to play him regularly.
Balogun came through the Arsenal youth academy and is one of their most highly rated academy graduates. The Gunners have kept a significant sell-on clause in the player’s contract, which means they will be entitled to a percentage of any future fee that Monaco get for him.
Monaco have been away from challenging for the Ligue 1 title since their win in 2016. And with a talented striker like Folarin Balogun who can score regularly, they could finally work their way back towards the top of the table if they can build another impressive squad.
