The most recent AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D Laptop CPU benchmarks have leaked, demonstrating that the 3D V-Cache chip still provides excellent multi-threaded performance. The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D will be the first CPU for laptops to include 3D V-Cache technology. The processor will be released next week on August 22nd, but benchmarks revealed within the Geekbench database offer us an idea of what to expect from the chip aside from gaming performance.

The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D CPU has 16 cores and 32 threads and is implemented in a twin CCD arrangement.

Each CCD has 32 MB of L3 cache for a total pool of 64 MB, however one of these CCDs has a 64.0 MB 3D V-cache stack, bringing the total pool to 128 MB. The CPU has a base clock speed of 2.3 GHz, which is 200 MHz slower than the Ryzen 9 7945HX, while the boost frequency stays at 5.4 GHz.

Given the minor differences in how voltages and power are handled for the 3D V-Cache chip, a little decrease in clock speeds was expected. Other parameters include a 55W+ TDP because this chip is ultimately a HX design, as well as some sort of tweaking such as PBO and CO for consumers to experiment with. The TDP of the typical HX chip is 55-75W+.

The CPU’s performance was evaluated on the ASUS ROG Strix G733PYV (ROG STRIX SCAR 17 X3D) laptop, the only officially announced product using the 3D V-Cache CPU. In Geekbench 6, the chip gets 2783 points in single-core and 16,080 points in multi-core testing, making it slightly slower than the ordinary 7945HX chip. However, in Geekbench 5, the CPU core scores 2146 points in single and 20,074 points in multi-core tests, putting it on par with its non-3D V-Cache sister.
