Google is at the centre providing Android updates for its own Pixel devices for three years. On the other hand we have Samsung, one of giants in smartphone world, also stated to provide three major OS updates to its flagship smartphones starting from Samsung Galaxy S10. Now coming to Microsoft, a recent news claims that the company has also announced three years of Android update for its recently launched Microsoft Surface Duo foldable smartphone.

To get into details of this Android update related promise we find that the company will provide OS upgrades as well as upgrades on security patches whenever provided. This upgrade system is not at all provided to most of the devices even in the flagship ranges. But there are few brand and device lineups that has this power and advantage to get this update.

Specification of Microsoft Surface Duo

Surface Duo features two 5.6-inch OLED (1,350×1,800 pixels) displays with 4:3 aspect ratio that when unfolded provides an 8.1-inch PixelSense Fusion display with 2,700 x 1,800 pixels resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio.

The phone has a single 11MP camera sensor present on top of the right display alongside the LED flash. It can be used for both taking selfies and has a 7x digital zoom. This camera is also capable of recording video in 4K at up to 60fps and comes with EIS.

Surface Duo features last year’s octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Surface Duo runs on Android 10. The phone is powered by a dual-cell battery that combines to a total capacity of 3,577mAh.

The phone does not support 5G but will come with 4G connectivity. The main feature previously mentioned as an “app group” is the key feature of this phone, as it allows us to multitask on both the screens.
