During this pandemic, a maximum of us prefers no to go outside unnecessarily. But what if our necessity, for example buying groceries, can be fulfilled by staying at home? I know its available currently and the demand for this service is increasing rapidly. Flipkart, earlier, launched its hyperlocal delivery service called ‘Flipkart Quick’ in Bangalore that allows users to get delivery in a minimum of 90 minutes. JioMart is also in this field along with some other platforms.
In this condition, Swiggy is also on its way to introduce “a chain of virtual convenience stores to deliver grocery and household items within 45 minutes”. This part will be named as ‘InstaMart’. It will first be implemented in Gurugram.
A Swiggy spokesperson told to the ET, “With 30-45 minutes deliveries … day and night serviceability (7 am-12 am), a wide assortment across categories such as instant meals, snacks, ice creams, fruits, and vegetables, Instamart will address the unmet grocery needs of the time-pressed, convenience-seeking urban consumer”.
The ET wrote, “Earlier, a large set of consumers preferred to handpick their grocery items from nearby shops. Now, suddenly, the market is wide open and competitive … It will come down to consumer experience”.
At the early stage, Swiggy is planning to launch InstaMart in Gurugram with nearly 2,500 items from its partner ‘dark stores’.
