Chelsea have submitted a new bid worth £80 million for Moises Caicedo, which has been immediately turned down by Brighton. The Seagulls want a higher fee to part ways with the midfielder, and further negotiations will soon take place for the two clubs to reach a solution regarding the transfer.

Brighton had promised Caicedo that he would be allowed to leave in the summer, after several clubs registered an interest in him during the January transfer window. But, they are waiting for their excessive valuation to be met before letting the player leave.

Caicedo has been the priority transfer target for Chelsea after the departure of N’Golo Kante to Al Ittihad. The club is lacking in defensive midfield, and need an experienced player in order to fill the Kante-shaped hole in their squad.

The Brighton man has been identified as the perfect replacement for Kante, and Chelsea are going all-in to secure his services. The player is open to the move and has also agreed personal terms with Chelsea for the transfer. But, an agreement between the two clubs is necessary for the move to take place.

And so far, it seems that the London club is no close to reaching an agreement for their target. Brighton have already signed James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud as replacements for Moises Caicedo, and are now negotiating to get as much money as possible through the deal for the Ecuadorian.
