Realme has been absent from launching GT-series flagship phones in China since January 2023 when the Realme GT 2 and GT 2 Pro were announced. However, recent reports suggest that Realme is preparing to unveil a new flagship phone in China in August, which could potentially be named the Realme GT 5, according to a leak from tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS).
The Anticipated Launch of Realme GT 5
Previously, Realme’s devices bearing model numbers RMX3820 and RMX3823 were observed on Chinese certification platforms TENAA and 3C. These phones are said to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Initial reports speculated that they might be called the Realme GT Neo 6, but the latest leak from DCS suggests that the upcoming flagship will be named the Realme GT 5 and will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
The RMX3820/3 devices are expected to make their debut next month, potentially the Realme GT 5. Additionally, DCS mentioned that Realme is also working on the Realme GT 5 Pro, which is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This device could be revealed by the end of this month or early in 2024.
According to rumors, the Realme GT 5 is said to feature a 6.74-inch OLED screen that supports 1.5K resolution and boasts a refresh rate of 144Hz. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, it will offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone will sport a 16-megapixel front camera and a triple camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50-megapixel main sensor (Sony IMX890, with OIS) along with an 8-megapixel and a 2-megapixel sensor.
The battery specifications will vary between the two variants: the RMX3820 version of the GT 5 will have a 4,600mAh battery with 240W charging, while the RMX3823 model will come with a larger 5,200mAh battery and support 150W charging.
