Manchester United are set to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan this week, after progressing towards an agreement with the club. They are discussing a fee in the region of €55 million for the goalkeeper, which is expected to be enough to match the Serie A club’s demands.Â
Onana would be reuniting with Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford, having worked with the Dutchman previously at Ajax. His ball-playing abilities have made him the favourite in the eyes of the manager, and a deal is close to going through. Other keepers like Diogo Costa were also considered, but Onana has emerged as the best option for the Red Devils.
Andre Onana to become Manchester United’s new number 1 goalkeeperÂ
David De Gea recently left Manchester United upon the expiry of his contract, ending a spell of 12 years with the club. Although he agreed to a reduced salary offer presented by the club, the board produced a second offer to him with an even lower salary. And as a result, he has decided to move on and join another club.Â
Andre Onana is expected to arrive this week, and will be the new number one goalkeeper for Manchester United. Tom Heaton is expected to stay as the number two for the coming season, while the future of Dean Henderson remains undecided.Â
Considering the fact that United are spending a significant amount on signing Andre Onana, they are likely not going to trust Dean Henderson to be the first-choice. As a result, the Englishman is likely to join Nottingham Forest this summer. However, a deal hasn’t been agreed for him yet.
