Brentford have agreed a club record deal worth £23 million for the signing of Nathan Collins from Wolves. The player is undergoing his medical assessment for the move and is set to become a new signing for the Bees soon.
The Irish centre-back attracted interest from Napoli over a move as well. However, Wolves have reached an agreement with Brentford to sell the defender over the Scudetto winners.
Nathan Collins to sign for Brentford as club record signing
This past season, the 22-year-old made 31 appearances for Wolves across all competitions, playing over 2,250 minutes. He has also earned 14 caps for the Ireland national team, scoring one goal so far.
Collins becomes the second new defensive signing for Brentford this summer after they signed Ji Soo-Kim. The previous most expensive player signed by Brentford was Kevin Schade, having spent £21 million on him.
The Irishman has played for Stoke City and Burnley as well, and will now be making the move to an ambitious Brentford team which will be hoping to get into the top half once again. The centre-back position was a priority to be upgraded for the Bees, and they now have a talented young defender to maintain the backline this season.
Wolves also rejected a bid for Max Kilman from Napoli, but sold Nathan Collins after their valuation of the youngster was met.
