Apple 15-inch MacBook Air sacrificed battery capacity for lightweight

Apple just revealed the new 15-inch MacBook Air at its WWDC 2023 event, and the laptop has gotten positive feedback. While there are many similarities between the 15-inch and 13.6-inch MacBook Air models, Apple made sure that the current model feels completely different. The larger display was one of the primary changes introduced by the corporation.

To accommodate the larger display, the business made various adjustments inside the chassis, including a larger battery. The 15-inch MacBook Air might have housed a larger battery with a capacity comparable to the 16-inch MacBook Pro if it had a larger body. Apple, on the other hand, chose a lightweight design.

One of Apple’s largest notebooks is the new 15-inch MacBook Air and 16-inch MacBook Pro. While the 15-inch MacBook Air is in every manner smaller, Apple might have upped the battery capacity even further. In his latest dissection of the larger MacBook Air, YouTuber Max Tech found that the computer has space on both sides of the battery.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is slightly smaller in size and dimensions, measuring 0.45 x 13.40 x 9.35 inches versus 0.66 x 14.01 x 9.77 inches for the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

The height of the MacBook Pro is much greater, while the width and depth are nearly the same. The manufacturer may have added a somewhat larger battery in the future.

For comparison, the MacBook Air has a 66.5-watt-hour battery, and the MacBook Pro has a 100-watt-hour battery. In comparison, the battery capacity of the 15-inch MacBook Air is roughly equivalent to that of the 14-inch MacBook Pro at 70 watt hours.

The logic board on the 15-inch MacBook Air is reportedly smaller than the one on the 13.6-inch MacBook Air. While the business could have modified the internals to accommodate a larger battery, it chose to improve the speaker arrangement instead. Overall, it is clear that the corporation took a mild approach.

The 15-inch model has the same battery life as the 13.6-inch MacBook Air. However, the battery life on the 16-inch MacBook Pro is slightly greater, with 22 hours of Apple TV app move playback vs 18 hours on the MacBook Air.
