Byju’s Exit and Unfilled Sponsorship

Byju’s, the previous front jersey sponsor, decided to exit the deal prematurely, leaving the Indian Cricket Team without a title sponsor. Last time, Byju’s secured the sponsorship rights for five years by paying a substantial $35 million. Unfortunately, they terminated the contract without fulfilling its entirety, forcing BCCI to search for a replacement.

Tender Applications

BCCI has invited interested business houses to submit tender applications for acquiring the National Team Lead Sponsor rights. The bid document is available for purchase at a non-refundable fee of Rs 5 lakh. The last date to purchase the bid document is June 26. However, due to the timeline constraints, it is unlikely that a new sponsor will be in place before the India vs. West Indies series.

Additionally, BCCI will receive Rs 10 Crore annually as royalty on merchandising. While this development ensures the team’s kit sponsorship, the front jersey sponsorship remains open.
