Spider-Man 2, a PlayStation 5 exclusive, will be launched on Friday, October 20 with a Venom who isn’t Eddie Brock. Venom, one of Spider-Man’s most iconic adversaries, was confirmed as one of the main antagonists when Spider-Man 2 was initially revealed. While Venom was heavily featured in the Spider-Man 2 reveal video, he did not appear during last month’s long PlayStation Showcase event.
The Spider-Man 2 footage shown at the PlayStation Showcase concentrated on Kraven the Hunter, with Peter Parker and Miles Morales facing off against his goons who had overrun New York City. it footage also showed Peter wearing the symbiote suit, but it didn’t explain how it happened or how the symbiote became Venom.
Those concerns remain unanswered, but fans can be assured that Venom will not be Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 2.
Insomniac briefly appeared at Summer Game Fest to show off new art of Kraven the Hunter and Venom, revealing that the Venom in Spider-Man 2 will not be Eddie Brock but leaving open the question of who will play Venom in the game. This startling revelation was revealed alongside the October 20 release date.
Because Eddie Brock isn’t Venom in the game, the question of who will take over the role of Venom in the game remains unanswered. Some fans believe Peter Parker will transform into Venom, however this does not appear to be the case. After all, the new concept art depicts Spider-Man confronting Venom, which may be too far from the original material for fans to bear. Another scenario appears to be the most plausible, but discussing it involves diving into Marvel’s Spider-Man SPOILERS, so proceed with caution.
Spider-Man 2 launches October 20, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
